Companies that offer local service are: Bell, Primus (but force their LD and you cannnot use Sympatico or DSL) and Sprint (but force there LD and you cannnot use Sympatico or DSL).

Companies that offer alternative VOIP (using your internet connection with a real phone) local service are: Baby Tel, Comwave, PhoneNet (related to TalkMet), Primus, Rogers (2005?), Sprint, TalkNet (related to PhoneNet), Vonage and Yak (September 2005?).

Companies that offer Cell Phone service are: Bell, Fido, Rogers, Sprint and Telus.

Some long distance providers charge you hidden or extra charges. They are call network access fee. They are usually hidden in the monthly services charges part of your bill. But they are related solely to your long distance provider. They say that everyone does but that is NOT true. The companies that currently charge this fee are: Bell, Telus, Primus, Sprint and Fido.

The companies that do not charge this fee are: WinTel, GoSonic, Yak, Modern Digital Communications (Free 800 #), Online Tel approx $20 per year for most of Ontario, Toronto Sun Call approx $60 per year for all Ontario Unlimited, CHUM almost totally free call GTA and 644 Free almost totally free call GTA.
